AI tools for the Mittelstand: OIT in Osnabrück
How we use Cursor, Claude Code and Midjourney at OIT Osnabrück for the German Mittelstand — and how Stephan Kindler brings the knowledge into teams.
AI in the Mittelstand isn’t a strategy slide at OIT in Osnabrück. It’s a tool — every day, in every project, from first sketch to live deploy. In cooperation with Stephan Kindler, we make sure those same tools land in our customers’ daily work. Not as a demo, but as lived practice — with measurable outcomes.
AI in practice instead of AI on a slide — straight from Osnabrück
Companies adopting AI in the Mittelstand rarely fail because of the models — they fail at adoption, data flows, compliance, and at staff not getting the tools into daily work. Our approach from Osnabrück: live it first, then learn together with the customer. Every one of our designers, engineers and consultants uses the same tools we later introduce at customer sites. What works in our own workflows arrives at the customer with hard-won experience attached.

AI in graphics and web design: from briefing to live page
Our designers don’t grind pixels anymore — they curate. Midjourney, Adobe Firefly and Google Imagen deliver moodboards, product visuals and hero imagery within minutes. Figma with its AI plug-ins handles layout variants, copy suggestions and component generation. What used to be two weeks of iteration is now a single morning — with the upside that we test more variants, not fewer.
For web frontends we use Cursor and Claude Code directly in the IDE: Tailwind components, animation curves, A/B variants — all in dialogue with a sparring model that knows the codebase. Faster time-to-prototype for our Mittelstand customers, no quality trade-off.
App and software development with AI agents
Our backend and mobile teams work with agentic workflows. Claude Code and Cursor are no longer autocomplete — they’re colleagues that write test suites, propose refactors, extend CI pipelines and access internal tools, docs and tickets via MCP (Model Context Protocol). GitHub Copilot rounds out the pair-programming loop.
What matters: humans stay in control. Every code change runs through review. AI accelerates, humans decide. That’s the Mittelstand-compatible path — no black box, no data leaks, just transparent, AI-Act-compliant workflows.
Underneath it all runs our own OIT AI Gateway — GDPR-compliant, EU-hosted, with audit trail per request and access to 20,000+ models through a single interface. Made in Germany, built in Osnabrück.

Stephan Kindler: AI learning that actually lands in the Mittelstand
Tools alone change nothing. Every leadership team feels this the moment the expensive licence sits in the cabinet while staff keep copy-pasting old Word templates.
This is where Stephan Kindler comes in. He walks our Mittelstand customers’ teams through exactly the AI tools we use ourselves — in workshops, train-the-trainer formats and on-site at the customer’s office. When our designers run a campaign, the customer’s marketing team learns in parallel how to use the same tools for their own briefings. When our engineers deploy a service, the customer’s IT department learns how to operate the AI Gateway themselves.
The outcome: Mittelstand customers don’t just get a solution — they get the competence to keep building on it. No hype, no half-knowledge, no risk. Exactly what our hero promise says: AI. Human. Tech.
See AI live — AI Week in Osnabrück, week 25
Want to skip the reading and see for yourself how we bring AI into the Mittelstand?
At the AI Week in Osnabrück (15 – 18 June 2026, week 25) you spend two focused hours with two OIT experts on your concrete use case — lunch from Wilde Triebe Restaurant included. Reserve your slot on the events page or submit your own use case directly — we develop with you live at the whiteboard.
Learning AI means doing AI. With the same tools we use ourselves. In Osnabrück, with energy and follow-through.
